Alliance Laundry Systems, LLC, headquartered in Ripon, WI, is the world leader in the manufacture and marketing of commercial laundry equipment. We are currently seeking a Product Manager to join our team.
The Product Manager is responsible for the management of a select group of Alliance product lines. This involves establishing both long and short-term objectives, the development of product marketing plans, managing the product lifecycle, monitoring product performance (profitability), as well as competitive activities in the marketplace
Position Overview
- Establishes both long and short-term objectives and strategies for assigned product lines.
- Monitors the overall performance of assigned product lines (volume, revenue, margin, inventory, SKU count, distribution and pricing) to ensure overall sales and profitability objectives are being met.
- Interfaces with the manufacturing group to ensure product quality standards are being met and proper inventory levels are in line with sales forecasts (for new products).
- Makes changes to the product lines as needed via rationalization and/or extensions. Manage the entire process from concept to reality, including sales and inventory analysis, competitive and overall market analysis, product line extension and discontinuation recommendations, “plan” presentation to management team and execution of approved changes. The execution requires working closely with various departments:
- Manufacturing—Ensure product specifications are established and product is produced and in inventory (where needed) within timeframe indicated.
- Accounting—Acquire costing information to ensure product is priced correctly to generate appropriate sales and profitability.
- Marketing—Communicate changes to Marketing in order to develop appropriate promotional pieces. Proof promotional pieces for product information accuracy.
- Develops new products within assigned product lines. Conducts research to determine viability, both from a product and pricing standpoint (most likely done through Sales group). Establish goals and expectations for the new products.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Management or related field required.
- Minimum 4 years product management experience required, preferably in the laundry or similarly structured market.
- Possess strong project management ability; effectively communicates vision for product line and strategy to the product team.
- Ability to interact with top management effectively; identifies priorities of upper management and when it is appropriate to inform; takes into account what executive concerns might be and addresses them proactively.
- Strong communication skills; influences others by persuasion rather then authority-makes case; effectively captures product requirements for product team in specification documents.
- Strong time management ability; effectively prioritizes and plans time (distinguishes between what is important and what is urgent).
- Demonstrates strategic/forward thinking ability; looks outside of industry for advances in technology and functionality; communicates roadmaps to product team-where product is going for future; analyzes the existence and influence of internal and external forces on the success of the business.
